The early bird catches the worm．早起的鸟儿有虫吃。
这是用鸟作比喻，劝告人们要行动迅速，才能得到更多的机会，当然也不仅仅是要起得早。此句也可写作It\’s the early bird that catches the worm．
英语类似的谚语还有：
First come, first served．
先到的先得款待。
He that runs fastest gets the ring．
跑得最快的获奖。
The cow that\’s first up gets the first of the dew．
最早起来的牛尝到最新鲜的朝露。
中文有句成语“捷足先登”也是这个意思。
值得注意的是，英美人喜欢用bird来比喻人，通过下列习语可见一斑：
